A Little Time Out of My Day

A Little Time Out Of My Day (Poetry Sidebar: Vol Six)

This one is going to have three poems that I’ve previously put up other places, but have not found their way here.

Sometimes I think of the light and the glass

How entranced I must be

By your warmth and your light

Hoping you escape my confines

And on that path out I won’t dim you

The hollow cold of your absence

I couldn’t begin to

Describe in any detail

See frail

Easily broken

Listed amidst my emotion

I know you notice

Form bends

The pressures too much

Starting to crack

And if I shatter

Know your light is worth more than what it means to me alone

But what does it mean to me

The first thing I look for when I’m getting home

You’re so electric

Truly magnetic

Look at how you radiate

Catching your frequency

Feels like I’m right where I need to be

So easily

No struggles in my need to see

Your worth

Your value

Even when you’re polarized

I only hope in time

You see it too

-A. Souza

You told me

You can talk to me about anything

Can I really?

Can I express the feeling of emptying oceans

Leaving behind nothing, but exposed seafloor?

See, sure

I could tell you

But what if comprehension

Is the precursor to condescension?

Of course, you are above me

I’m drained, empty

The murky floor reveals

Wounds of unseen depths

I hid in the flow of waves

I wonder if I told you

If saying it would return the tide

The sands melt in the hot sun

Or tumble into the lower portion

You told me we could talk

But the silence compels vast words

I fail to listen to, lost in thought

Language like currents navigating saying what I wish without losing course

You said we could talk

And I cling to it like barnacles on the bottom of a ship

But when I reach your door

I turn around

Two people who couldn’t float trying to bring one another to shore

Hands dipped in melancholy

Reaching out to touch my insecurities

Sorrows reflection

Painting a hand of death

Pardon me for my lack of breath

Hoping in held air

Our moment doesn’t pass

Knowing you are to die for

This time worn

Mind

Finds you

No matter the distance

To repeat this

Sequence

A dream

For the dreamless

A hope in the heart

Of a plagued cynic

A rally cry

To my lack of self interest

See I love you rings hollow

Echoing through the expanse of my true emotions

There is always so much more to say

So I make time, any time of day

To remind you

Your worth is fathomless eons

I only glimpse in fragments

More than I know

More than I could ever imagine
