A Little Time Out of My Day

A Little Time Out Of My Day (Poetry Sidebar: Vol Five)

Tell me your passions

All the versions of you that you can imagine

Your dreams deferred

Your hopes

Your crafts

Your hobbies

Your daily distractions

That help you regulate

The weight you carry

And know I won’t be burdened

You are a person

Worthy

Of someone stopping to take the time

My admiration

Doesn’t change when you tell me what’s on your mind

See they want you picturesque

Clean

I’d rather you felt seen

In whatever way you decide

I’d rather ease your mind

So you have a place where you feel like you don’t have to keep pretending all the time

It’s okay

I’m not here to fix it

Just appreciate your existence

And stand by your side

On days it’s hard to

Clearing a path in all these eggshells you walk through

What’ve you been carrying lately? How can I help with that?

What parts is it overwhelming at?

Take your time

Reset

We don’t have to get into that

I’m here

Present in your presence

To hold those parts you hide

Lend you an ear

Things I’d say to you

But I wish I’d also say to the mirror
